| Why Adjust Your Pet? |
|
| A Young pet |
|
Because the VOM style of animal adjusting
gives us a neurological evaluation of each and every nerve coming down
the spinal column, we can use the reflex pattern of the pet to find
neurological imbalances early, BEFORE they progress to creating obvious
symptoms of disease. So I always recommend an evaluation once every
three months beginning at 5 months and continuing until growth plate
closure, at approximately 18-24 months of age for breeds with common
musculoskeletal problems such as hip dysplasia, elbow and knee anomalies
such as medial patellar luxation. Other organ illnesses
that seem excessive such as chronic diarrhea with or without parasites,
upper respiratory infections, eye issues, and chronic bladder infections
may be a result of improper neural and vascular input to the area. VOM
can correct all of these to aid in healing or prevent things from
progressing to obvious disease. |

Many of the characteristics of
"aging" are often just an accumulation of minute injuries to
the musculoskeletal system or a chronic diminished blood supply to
organs, slowing things down and causing buildups of debris to stagnate
the functions of the body. Performing a VOM adjustment resets spinal
receptors all down the body to reverse these changes. Often, increasing
blood supply to areas can allow better function, reestablish innervation,
and relax muscle spasm providing a rehabilitation and healing. |

Every function of the body is a result of
blood supply and nervous control. If either or both are compromised even
a small amount, the function also diminishes. Reestablishing this
balance of optimal blood supply and nervous input throughout the body is
always a component of illness. It may show as decreased blood supply to
a kidney giving decreased kidney function as based on blood values. It
may show as chronic decreased tears to the eyes and corneal injuries due
to decreased blood supply to the tear ducts causing decreased tear
production and poor corneal health. |
| An injured pet |
|
The body's response to a pain stimulus is
to (1) decrease blood flow to the injured area to decrease bleeding and
swelling; (2) decrease innervation so that the body can function past
the pain; and (3) contract muscles to stabilize the area. All of these
natural occurrences can be repeatedly stimulated by the chronic pain
leaving a continual injury. This can start out as a minor injury that
appears to resolve but the body heals to a level of subclinical or
"inobvious" injury. Meanwhile the body continues to try to
heal with diminished blood supply forming "less than optimal
repair". The body continues to try to function
with a compromised range of motion causing the body to shift the
workload to other areas of the body. Over time, the body runs out of
areas to compensate.
Rehabilitating the proper blood flow, innervation, and
muscle tone to the body can reverse much of the problems in the body as
well as help the body heal stronger.
